Got my ARP Pro2000 rod bolts today...info within
they are longer than stock (longer threads) but they appear to be plug and play...just put them in (no modifications needed)
instructions say to lube the threads, tq to 40 ft-lbs , loosen, torque to 40 loosen then final torque to 40
looks simple enough <img border="0" alt="[chug]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_chug.gif" />

part number 234-6301
bought them from summit racing. Be warned they are special order...took ~3-4 weeks to get <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />
But I think Thunder Racing stocks them

Anyone think it's bad to install these with the rods still in the car/on the crank? Anyone think the big end needs to be resized after?

How about, are you afraid of the cracked rods shifting in position while still attached to the crank and the old bolts are removed?

I have the Car Craft issue. They say that they have to be machined oversized and install special oversized bearings. They also say in the article that the "cracked cap" is a very precise rod-to-cap fit, reducing bolt squirm and enhancing durability. So how much power can these rod take?

IMHO you should just change them 1 bolt at a time so as not to disturb the cap which I doubt will move anyway. Put the first bolt in and torque to standard settings or just enough to snug it up and then fit the other bolt, then do the torque sequence. Rotate the crank fully after each rod is done just to be sure everything is ok. The bolts may be a few grams lighter then stock. Are you going to torque them with moly lube or straight oil? Just out of intest why contemplate the possibility of resizing stock rods, aren't they cheap enough anyway to just replace new? Mike.

hell,
manley has a new ls1 specific rod out. 6.100 length direct bolt in. cap screws and will hold more hp and rpm than the pm rods that come stock.
not to bad on price either.
