It's rare for someone to swap heads before the cam. You would gain more power from a bigger cam than ported heads, the heads give you the power when you have a bigger cam that allows them to flow. It would be interesting to see what kind of gains ported heads with a stock cam give though.

I'm interested because I want a minimum impact to drivability. Figure the heads wont cause any loss of idle quality. I'd consider a mild cam afterwards.
