Default Thinking about going bigger. (Cam) Any advice??

Hey guys, I am getting ready to install some stage 2 heads, and LS-6 Intake Manifold, and was thinking of going with a bigger cam while we have the engine out......

Here is what I am looking for: I have all bolt ons, M6, with an MTI T1 cam as of right now....

I want a big cam, with a big lope, that will show good power gains over my T1.

Also, what is the biggest cam you can go before its too much for stock diplacement....

So, all in all, I want a big cam, with good power, with the nastiest lope possible... I like to hear em, you know? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

So, does anyone have any suggestions!?!? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />
I was kind of thinking MMS 229, any other/better suggestions?

TIA! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />

I say go for either a Thunder TR230, MMS229 or Raging Motorsports new 230 cam.. What gears are you running?

Emperor,

I am very interested! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Could you please send me a PM with what you want for just the cam? I have comp 918's, will these work with this cam? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />

Vince, yeah I have decidied to go bigger... Its addicting! We have 2 SS's both with T1's (we liked your transplanted T1, we went and bought another one! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> Now I will be pulling it back out and selling it, and we've only had it in about 3 weeks (1500 miles)But yours is still doing its job very well! Kinda silly huh? Ah well, all for the love of going fast hehe....
By the way, right now I am running 4.10's, but will be backing down to 3.73's when I install the heads and new cam....

Thanks to all! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Do you plan on running 4.10 (or larger)gears?
You did not mention custom tuning witch you will need to have when you get the larger cam.

...wait a sec, i just read that you are going back down to 3.73's...AND you want a BIG cam?

Why?

If you are looking for topend power you will need one of these cams.. Raging Motorsports 230 cam, TR230 cam, MTI's X1, MMS229, or just buy 232/232 XE-R lobes and keep the 4.10's.. If you just want dyno #'s then go 3.73's. Personally the 4.10's will be better for driving secondary to possible tq loss.. Now if Thunders theory hold up then you will not lose any tq with the reverse split. To be honest with you the power is really going to be made with the heads.. The T1/B1 cam has seen #'s of 435rwhp. The TR224 has seen #'s of 443rwhp. Its not really the size of the cam sometimes.. Its the heads.. I would chose them very carefully.

Raughhammer,

I can leave the 4.10s if need be...

I just want a big sounding cam, that will still show a power gain over my T1.....

Thanks <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
