MUTHAFU******R!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I NEED SOME HELP!!! ME AND A FRIEND REPLACED THE CLUTCH THE OTHER DAY AND EVEN THOUGH THE KIT CAME WITH THE WRONG PILOT BUSHING AND ALIGNMENT KEY WE STILL MANAGED TO LINE IT UP AND INSTALL IT...I THINK. I KNOW I KNOW THATS NOT INTERNAL BUT HERES THE PROBLEM...I DROVE OUT TO RICHMOND THAT DAY TO TEST THE CLUTCH, IT RAN BEAUTIFUL. ON THE WAY HOME AT A LIGHT I NOTICED WHITE SMOKE IN THE REARVIEM MIRROR. I LOOK AT THE TEMP GAUGE AND ITS THRU THE ROOF! I PULL OVER AND UNDER THE HOOD I NOTICED THAT THE INTAKE ELBOW AND THE AIR CLEANER CAME APART. I REATTACHED IT AND LET IT COOL. I DROVE IT HOME AND IT RAN PERFECT, A LIL HOTTER, BUT PERFECT! WENT TO A PARTY LAST NITE AND I NOTICED THE WHITE SMOKE AGAIN AT A STOP SIGN. WHEN I PULLED UP TO THE PARTY, JUST DOWN THE STREET, IT BELLOWED OUT LIKE A SMOKE STACK. IT DIDN'T SMELL LIKE BURNING OIL OR NOTHIN. SO I LET I COOL AND TRIED TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IT WAS. TEMP WAS STILL FINE AT THIS POINT. WHEN I WENT TO START THR CAR AND TRY TO SMELL THE SMOKE AGAIN IT WOULDN'T START!!! IT WAS LIKE THE TRANNY LOCKED UP OR THE ENGINE WAS SEIZED!!YOU COULD HEAR THE STARTER TRY TO TURN THE CRANK BUT IT SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS STUCK. IT WAS HORRIBLE. PLEASE HELP!!!!

Re: MUTHAFU******R!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The motor should go into "limp home mode" and prevent serious engine damage if the ECT goes over 265, but who knows. White smoke is burning coolant. The intake hose being off shouldn't ever allow the engine to over head. Sounds like you blew a head gasket and burned off most of your coolant.

Maybe you blew a headgasket, then when you shut the car off and let it sit, the coolant leaked threw the blown gasket into a cylinder thus hydrolocking the motor?

Re: MUTHAFU******R!!!!!!!!!!!!!
pull the spark plugs out and turn the motor over by hand (from the crank bolt).
do a search on hydrolocking. basically it fills the combustion chamber with liquid...and liquid doesnt compress too well. if you have one piston pushing down, making the other ones go up...the ones filled with the liquid wont move up and you can imagine what will happen then <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />
