Default May have a Problem..kinda long

well i was just looking at the throttle body trying to get my idle set again and i noticed one of the little hex bolts was missing that holds the blade on

i noticed my idle had gotten worse a couple weeks ago, i figured it was the hotter air, but now im assuming its from the bigger hole in the TB which took my iac count down to ZERO, was at 30ish with a 725 rpm idle with the hammer cam.

anyway, basically, it has gotten to be in the intake atleast cause it wasnt in the bellow and my engine is still running great, even made some N2O runs the last time i drove it. so i guess its stuck in the intake maybe??? whats your opinions??

good thing is that im doing a head swap hopefully next week so i guess ill find out then.

is it possible its gotten into the engine? i just figured i would have noticable change in engine performace, sound if it did.

thanks for any input
Jerry

What heads are you installing? Use the Scotch Brite Green pads to clean the block. Raughhammer turned me on to them and they made it MUCH easier and perfectly clean!

thanks for the tip. they are clean but i may go over them with the pad anyway to be sure. should i worry about cleaning the tops of the pistons?

the heads are not being ported by any of the 'known' porters just a guy in texas who had ported a friend of mines and he swears by him. plus it was an awesome deal for stage 2's. ill hopefully have new times to post. currently 11.97 NA will also be spraying on the heads as long as it actually works this time LOL. stupid inline fuse

mid 10's???

o yea, you got any tips for cleaning the bolt holes. the paper towel trick is really! slow. basically i got all the coolant out of a few of them and then sprayed some break cleaner in the holes to get the rest of the crap out. do i need to do anything else?

NASTYC5: hop on AIM i added you so i could pick your brain LOL

Jerry, you got MSN, my contact is lprocter@hotmail.com

Ok, about the pistons, you could clean them if you wanted. I think the easiest would be to get some GM top end engine cleaner and pour it in the cylinders, let sit overnight and clean them off the next day.

About the bolt holes, take two of the old bolts for the heads, a long one and short one and using a dremel grind two opposing sides of the threads down flat so there are no threads. Run them through each bolt hole a few times each to get all the gunk out. Look on ls1.fbody.com on the head install for a pic. This is the easiest way to get all of the **** out of the bolt holes!
