Exhaust - Long tube headers with jet hot coating with custom mandrel bent tubing going to an X-pipe and custom mufflers. I use Dr. Gas x-pipe and mufflers and think they are the best quality available. I was under the impression almost all of Nascar uses Dr. Gas but please don't quote me on that.

c5r block stroked to a 427 your crank of choice....lunati, and a think childs and alberts has one now. c5r heads, custom sheet metal intake, forged rods, forged pistons, get the compression ratio around 9:1, and a custom twin turbo setup, adjustable boost, 6-20 psi, possibly halltech systems could design you one? and speed pro/fast would be a must. you said money wasn't a issue right? hehe. you would need a custom fuel system of course.... ok im done.... haha

With the C5R block and heads:

Bore: 4.13"
Stroke: 4.0
Head Chambers: 38cc
Gasket: 0.072"
Dish Pistons: -16cc

Will give you 427 CID at 13.63 compression. That should give an easy 600+ rwhp just NA <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

That should run on 93 unleaded just fine. For power, I would guestimate around 560 to 580 rwhp.

I gave the part number and everything. The heads do not cost but $600 more then a set of LS6 heads. As stated earlier the only thing you need is an intake which already happens to be manufactured by Kinsler - here is a link:
http://www.kinsler.com/index1.htm

Although this is the original c5r intake you cannot use this on the street. I am sure that he has some input or idea that he would be willing to share though.

The exhaust ports remain unchanged from the LS6 (standard D port) so you can buy any set of headers that were made for a Z06. There is nothing special about using the heads other then the intake. You could easily fabricate the stock fuel system to work with it also.

As for ponies - with an ASA cam the motors are restricted to 600HP so since you don't have any restrictions you can make well over this! Look at my last post for the part numbers direct through GM!

BTW,
I have a set of C5R heads on order.

I didn't know that there is two C5R head castings, only thought that there was a 38cc chamber C5R head. So the 30cc head is part # 12480005, correct?
BTW, is there two C5R block part numbers, I've heard but can't confirm that there was one built for dry sump and one for wet sump, or is that BS?
Thanks.
Cheers. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

As for the heads they make several models for ASA racing including LS6 and LS1 variants as well as C5R heads. The 12480005 is correct, however it is a watered down version of the real C5R head and really the only difference is that there is more chamber material in the 12480090. This would change the Chamber from 38 - 30 cc. You also must remeber that it really doesn't make a difference about the chamber size.....most teams will weld them in and design their own chamber. The heads that GM sells are close replicas and give the public an oppurtunity to "custom tailor" for their own setup. They just give you a "jump" start! Besides the other ASA racers and such buy these heads for their own setup, and so in buying these they will still meet their individual requirements.

Let me give a quick run down:
LS1 Heads

LS6 Heads - raised ports on intake and exhaust, the exhaust is a d - port design, 63 cc chambers

C5R Heads - d - exhaust ports, raised intake port floor and roof, intake port is totally different, valve is moved from 15* to 11*, this gives more room for shaft mount rockers, head is machined for larger diameter springs, and valve guide bore is larger, 2 variants 38cc or 30cc chambers.

ASA Heads - Same as LS1 except it uses ASA springs and seats.

The differences listed are from the LS1 head. I think I put everything there!

BTW,
C5R block part number - P/N 12480030

in reference to the c5r kinsler stuff. you can easily have a sheetmetal intake built to fit under the cowl and on the heads. maybe even with 2 tb's if you wanna get wild. but you can build one for use with stock or billet fuel rails, TB, etc, etc.

As for Ryan....you are also correct, but I was just referencing someone that builds the actual intakes for these heads. The C5R has a radical setup.....you should look at kinsler's site.
