Default Crane Lifter Users???????????

I see that they list 2 part numbers for us. Does anyone know the difference? Which is what P/N? Do they look stronger than stock? Are they noisy?

Final stages of planning is just sooooo much fun

Like you mentioned, their are two different types of OEM crane replacement lifters. Here ya go:

1) Newer Model. Part # 144530-16
This is the weaker of the two models, with an unshrouded roller, and the oil fill hole on the same axis as the roller. This lifter is to be used in the newer GM LS1 block types. I have a year 2000, and I was recommended to use this lifter.

2) Older Model. Part # 10530-16
This is the stronger of the two with a fully shrouded roller, and the oil fill hole on an opposing axis to the roller. It is as noisy as hell when used in the new blocks. This model (according to crane) is not to be used in the newer block type because of "excess oil passing" as stated by the crane tech folks. Engine builders that I talked to said that this wasn't a problem, and they will work fine in the newer blocks.

I have the older hydralic lifter 10530-16 installed into the newer LS1 block (2000). The lifters work fine, but are very very noisy.

Here is a link. About 3/4 of the way down the page it says which lifter goes with what year LS1.

Good Luck

Now will the noise effect the knock sensors?

I have been researching everything about lifters and I just purchased a set of lifters far superior then the cranes or the comps...But more pricer and no more worries at high rpms...These lifters are made by Joe Schubeck.

aren't the shubucks like $800 for a set!!!???

i just assembled my 2001 6.0 and used the 10530-16 lifters, and man!!! when that engine warms up you think youre valvetrain just came loose!!! i'm almost embarased to drive it when it happenes.

they are very very noisy!!!
i wish i knew this before i put the thing together
on the bright side , now i know where the valetrain noise is comming from, and it's not a collapsed lifter, of a tuliped valve or something.

are they quite??? ( the shubucks)

i just looked at the comp cams selection and they list two kinds, the cc850-16 which i belive are stock replacements, and the 875-16 which are the pro magnum ones that are for high pref. applications.
my question is will the 850's fitt all years of the ls1 /6.0 ?? or is it limited to certain years like the cranes??

i know the 875's are weired in the sence that their preload should be set at 0.006 inch !!!

does anyone know where i could find a set of either???
