cam?
The majority of all cams used on the LS1 are manufactured by either Comp Cams or Lunati. Both very high quality manufacturers.
Cam selection is based on what has, or has not been added to the engine such as high flow heads, tube headers, etc.
A BIG 238/238 .580"/.580" cam will not work well with a bone stock engine any better than a fully modified race motor with a stock cam. The parts just dont complement each other.
You need to determine what else will be done to the engine to increase airflow, and then ask for help here in order to select a cam that is compatable to that combination.
If you just want to install an aftermarket cam to an otherwise stock engine, the folks here can help you also.
Prior to purchasing internal engine components such as a cam, there are bolt-on parts that you may first consider such as a high flow "air lid", or maybe a high stall torque converter (if your car has an automatic tranny).
There is a Search function at the top of the page that can also be very usefull.
I would read a bunch of various threads on this message board prior to making any decisions on parts..... Take your time.

Alot of these guys here will tell you to go BIG BIG with your cam. My suggestion:
Comp Cams 220/220 .561"/.561" 114 LSA
or the MTI (sponser) "B1" cam
For a 'daily driver' A4 trany car, thats my suggestion.
Ron,
Most of my experience is with Turbo Buicks, but I have been a member of LS1.Com since Day-One.
Being in Korea for the last 3 years has not helped much, as I have not been able to do much modding on my 98 TA. Sure read alot here though..
But, as for the nitrous...... I can tell you that heavy shots of spray will work best with a cam that is larger on the exhaust side than the intake side. The car needs alot of exhaust scavenging when nitrous is used.
With your TEA heads and mid length Mac headers, I would look for a cam in the vacinity of 220/224 duration and around .560" lift with a 114 LSA. Remember, that A4 cars don't take as kindly to real big cams as the M6 cars do. And remember something else. Your car is still a daily driver and isn't on the spray continually.
Jesel shaft rockers.... Nice $$$$ parts, but I can't comment inteligently about them. I personally don't think they are nessesary on motors that are not truely "race motors". Sure, with a real hard core solid lifter roller motor, they may be almost a requirement, but on a hydraulic roller lifter motor (like 98% of the LS1 engines here), I think they would be $$$$ overkill.
Make sense?
Ron

I really would just stick with the OEM rockers.
