Default Difficulty removing heads

I'm having a hard time removing the passenger side head. I've already removed all 15 bolts and everything behind the head and it still doesn't come out Maybe i'm too weak

Shouldn't have any problems with it. Do you have an automatic or manual? If you have an auto, did you remove the bracket holding the transmission dipstick on?

You may want to actually see if you can pry it loose from a few bolt holes. Mine came off fairly easy, but then again I also break pulley bolts off in the crank without breaking a sweat. If you look at the driver side you'll see the two steel sleeves. On the passenger side the steel sleeves are in the upper left and lower right. That may help you a bit to see if it's bound up anywhere. Hopefully you've removed the bolt that holds the oil dipstick in place! That won't hold it on though.

Best thing to do is take a break every now and then. Especially if you're doing it by yourself! Wait till you get to the part for torquing down all the head bolts! If your body isn't twitchin when you're done with that something is wrong!

One last note, make sure that you determine if you have to pocket your rockers. Everyone with the Stage 2 Heads lately has much larger springs and the rockers gouge the retainers. Double check with whoever built up your heads to make sure you have to do that or not.

Good luck.

As long as you have removed all bolts like everyone mentioned above, you may need to rap the head with a large rubber mallet to dislodge it from the block surface. Dont worry, thats a standard procedure thats done in garages every day. Remember "big RUBBER mallet".

For Gods sake, don't hit it with a steel hammer

Good Luck,
Ron

Thanks everyone. I did take out the bracket holding the transmission dipstick on and all other bolts. I'm going to go see if I can pry and hammer the heads loose when I get off work. Oh, and thanks for the heads up on the rockers Derty.

You removed the engine dipstick and bolt from the passenger side head, too, right?

i think the only things attached to the back were a big hose bundle, and the transmission tube.

stick your power steering pump bolts into the front of the head. then you have a handle to pull up on.
