Default Can the front crank seal be replaced with motor in??

I have what appears to be a severly leaking front crank seal behind the crank pulley. This appears to have happend during an ASP crank pulley, rollmaster double row timing set, and ported oil pump install.

Can this seal be replaced with the motor in the car?

Car is a 99 WS6.

Thanks,

Mike

Its just pressed into the timing cover. pull off the pulley, unbolt the timing cover, tap the old one out, and tap a new one in with some wood and a hammer. Simple.

Thanks Guys.

I had to verify they were one and the same because verbally someone told me there weren't and I was confused, because I thought they were.

The crank seal is right behind the pulley and the timing chain cover has it's own separate gasket. I think the crank seal is easily damaged.

If they are I see why it would be so simple.

Thanks,

I appreciate the feedback <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

what about the alignment tool??? i heard that if you don't use it , the seal will go bad sooner. it might even not seal that well.
