What are the gains of a higher lift cam given the Durations are the same. Say like a 224 duration .561 lift cam compared to a 224 duration .581 lift cam. What are the disadvantages of the higher lift cam besides PV clearance.

A higher lift cam will allow for more air flow if your heads can support it but more lift will stress your valve springs more so it is beneficial to have your heads machined to fit a dual spring. There won't be much difference between the lifts you mentioned but the more aggressive XER lobe combined with the added lift seems to work well.
