Default cam or not to cam??

I have 2001 M-6 SS convertible.car has 17000 miles on it.LT headers on order,It has air lid and filter and the LM exhaust.I dont race at the track but want a little more.It is my daily driver .Not planning on head work and don't plan on driving at 6500 rpms all the time.the Thunder 220/220 .561/.561 112 LSA or
220/220 .561/.561 114 LSA have been suggested what would you do-- I do have a brother in OK I can go visit and spend some time with Ed Wright if I need tuning to make it all work correctly.

comments suggestions welcome please.

You should defenitly go for it man. You will be glad you did. The TR 220 114 LSA cam, and the TR TR220 112 LSA cam, are both excellent cams. Although if you don't have to worry about passing a smog, their is no reason not to go with the TR 220 112 LSA cam. It will defenitly give you more lope then the TR cam with the 114 LSA will. Thunderracing makes some of the best cams on the market right now, so you would be getting a very high quality product. With proven performance. Plus the exhaust note that you will get with these cams is unreal. They make your exhaust note sound the way a muscle car should sound.

Like I said earlier, go for it, and you will very happy with it. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

These MTI cams also probably deserve a look:

B1 221 221 .558 .558 114
T1 221 221 .558 .558 112
C1 222 222 .566 .566 112

I also like the TR 220 and TR 224

Ed,
A cam is one of the best mods you can do. The stock heads flow extremely well compared to any small-block pushrod V8s ever built. As for recommendations, L.G. Motorsports (A LS1TECH Sponsor) has seen several cars making 390-400 RWHP with totally stock heads and their cams. Of course this was with the major bolt-ons and tuning. I'm sure these cams have quiet a bit more duration than the Thunder 220 though. I do not know the exact specs on these cams, but a link to their websight is in the column on the right. Just think 30hp less than a H/C stage 2 car. If you ask me $2,500 heads for 15-30hp just doesn't seem like that good of a deal.
