I have a 99 v6, it's going to be paid off the end of next month. My goal is to do and engine swap about this time next year. I need to start doing a lot of research and fiqure out what and how much everything is. Can anyone set me in the right direction? Thanks

yes, sell the 99 and buy a ls1. all the money you would spend on the motor and all the parts you would need and if you can't do the labor yourself, your looking at alot of $$$$ and time. i've spent $7,000 on my car. use the 99 for a down payment and with the money you can save add boltons. well...not what you wanted to hear but this is just what i would do. good luck.

Thats about what I was looking at to spend. Rather just spent the $7000 on the engine. The cars gonna be paid off, after the engine i'd have a pretty nice car and all the money I used for bills can now go into the car.

ok...lets try again.you have a 99 that is about paid off,you say you will have about $7,000 to spend. first a ls1 moter will run $3,000 to $4,000
these are some prices i have seen.now you will need headers $525.00 at least, cat back $500.00 dont want to use the v6 one, wiring harness, computer or if they can tune yours $450.00,shocks,struts,sway bars $500.00 to $600.00 unless you try to use the v6 setup.can you do it your self or do you pay labor? this is what i'm trying to say,i'm sure your 99 is worth $6,000 to 10,000 use that money to buy a 98'99 z28. you say you have around $7,000 to spend that z28 will run 11's. down the road from me there is a 99 z28 for sale for $13,500 you would only owe around $3,500 to $4,500. do you see what i'm getting at? i've seen autos run 12.0's with no heads and cam you can get all the boltons for $3,500 to $4,000,and still have $3,000 left over. you can do what you want, this is just the way i see it. GOOD LUCK TO YA.

Listen to mike c. Get rid of that thing and buy and LS1. Make your upgrades from there. I have heard horror stories from guys trying to make the v6 to ls1 swap.

Just trade the car in sense its paid off and get a ls1.Its a lot of work trying to convert the car over like you want.Maybe you want 2 vehicles to drive which is fine so I would just get a cheap honda.

Keep in mind V6's also have a weaker suspension, and are not really designed to have a V8 motor. I personally wouldn't waste your time and money. It's definately a good idea, but if you wanna do an LS1 swap I would not do it with a newer V6 Camaro.
