I am plannig on changing mine out very soon and getting new heads while I am at it. Going to the duals for peace of mind. the 918's have held up great though.

Are you making that much power with your cam and bolt-ons only? What company is that cam from?

The cam is the T2. But I actually got the cam before it was sold as the T2 from comp cams about 2 years ago. And yes I made that much power with cam and bolt ons. You just have to have the right set up, and have the right tune.

yeah, I know that sounds nuts. I thought I would have got a few "your a dumb *** for leaving the springs in that long!!" But until I install heads or go with a more agressive cam they will stay in.......unless I get valve float ect...

the Comp 918's are a excellent product not too mention the price!

Also depends on how you drive the car. If you race alot, nothing will last long. But if its just a DD/weekend warrior and you choose a mild cam with reasonable lift (.550ish or so).....I think the springs could last 100k.

You think that is crazy...

5 cams:

222/226
224/224
224/230
236/236
244/248

Comp 918's...unshimmed with TI retainers. Still going after 38k and all of the above cams. I am sure that they need replacement, but we will do that when I go bigger than the current 244/248.

They are truly underated for what they really are. It is a marketing scheme if you ask me in order for them to make sales on the 921's for just over .600/.600 lift cams.

Wasn't there several posts recently about 918's breaking, some within 150 miles of installation? Just wondering if Comp got a bunch of bad springs in from their manufacturer. I know at least one person was asked to ship the springs back to Comp for inspection.

Hey vettenuts, they did say that they were heat treated wrong. They said that they were too hard and briddle. They said the color of them was a sign that they were heated too much. Comp did send me a new set but after that I was kinda scared to use a single spring so I went with the patriots.
