Default cylinder wall protectant

I'm in the middle of a cam install, but ill have to let the car sit a couple weeks while I'm gone. what can i use to protect the cylinder walls from rusting/corroding while the heads are off?

i was thinking about just using some lithium grease, would that be ok?

If the car is sitting inside, I'd either stuff rags in the cylinder bores or tape the deck off with some of the blue masking tape. Ore ven both I guess, but that seems like overkill.

If it's outside, I'd just wipe the bores down with oil, and then do the same as above.

A light coat of fogging oil on the bores will do fine. Clean deck surface with lacquer thinner and mask off bores and all oil areas open to the enviroment.

We use fogging oil on our marine engines. It's a long term storage oil meant for this purpose. Available everywhere. When your ready to tear back into the engine, take off the masking tape, wipe excess oil from bores with a lint free Scott blue towel and your ready.

Don't grease the bores, cleanup will be a PIA.

If you have access to fogging oil- use that. If not drown it in wd. Just be sure to cover it because now your engine is a huge K&N just waiting to catch dirt.
