Default Cam Specs...talk to me please...

With the new cam technologies out there I'm at a loss as to what I should go with.....I have the ability to get a cam custom ground for me with no problems...question is...are the new Reverse Cams making power? If so, what kind and how much w/Stock heads?? Please point me to any Threads..I haven't seen any...

But, I'm curious to see what the bigwigs would think of a 226/224 .560/.560 112 spec'd cam on a stock headed LS1...full bolt on's with Mac Mid's and ORY...also this car is AUTO with 3800 (Yes 3800 NOT 2800...I don't like lil ***** converters...LOL)....any input would be appreciated!!

the big gain in the reverse split has come from the 230/224 TR cam. I doubt that a 2 degree split will have much impact versus a single pattern.

I agree with Ragtop that the power of a 226/224 vs. a 224/224 will be very negligible to the point that you most likely won't even see a difference. I'm going to try a G5 cam from L.G. on a 111 LSA. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Is doing a Cam w/out getting SOME head work really worth it? Or should I just continue to pinch pennies and do side jobs for another couple months for headwork too? I reallllly want a lope again... :sniffle:

You have headers, so you'll get .3 and 2 - 3 mph from a good cam swap such as 224/224 112 .563. Enjoy the lope <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

I guess my YTP 4200 also qualifies as non-vaginal too <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Seriously...is the 224 the magical number on the Stock heads for the point of no return? Also being an Auto would going with a 224/220 set-up help with drivability at all? Personally, as long as it will stay running w/the A/C on decently I'm cool drivability....I just don't want to have to keep my foot on the gas or turn the A/C off at a stoplight type of cam.

Thanks for the input guys I know it doesn't seem like we're getting to far but I keep coming up w/?'s ... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

All <img border="0" alt="[hail]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_hail.gif" /> the Non-Vaginal <img border="0" alt="[Camaro]" title="" src="graemlins/camaro.gif" /> Launch!!

224 gets you most of the gain, but you can go up to 230/224 111 or 228/228 112 to squeeze it all out.

If you don't have LS1Edit, buy it. You can set your shift points, lock-up, rev limiter, delete TM, A/F, timing, etc. You can also set your idle to get the desired tradeoff between lope and drivability. For example, you could use 750 idle w/o AC to get a good lope , and also set it for 900 when the AC is on so the car is pretty smooth and the AC blows cold.

You can unload your HPP3, MAFT, O2 simms etc. to help offset the cost.
