Default Is your cammed car reliable enough to travel?

I am going to be driving about 1200 miles the week after I install my TR220, 918s, etc. Would you trust your setup to get you that far?

My car was driven half way across the country and back with a cam and 941's. I've put 30k trouble free miles on the 2 cammed ls1's I've had.

YES! You should totally be able to trust that setup <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

The only precaution I suggest you take is to allow the spring one heat cycle before running the car hard. After install go drive the car around to get it good and hot, but dont run it too hard, and then let it cool off. After that you should be good to go!

I have taken two 2000 mile trips one this summer
one last with a hotcam, several other shorter trips,

Mostly your running at less than 2K rpm
kinda a good idle.. I was worried about heat
220 at 75mph with AC on in middle of the day

I put my cam in, drove it around town for a day. Then I drove it from Grand Rapids, MI to ARE outside of Toronto and back. No problems. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" />

Certainly! I just drove my Heads/cam SS 1400 miles to my parents house with no problems. Not only that but I managed 25 mpg (w/ the 12-bolt and 4.11's). When I got there I spent the weekend racing it, and then drove it home 3 days later!

So 425 rwhp + 12-bolt = <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

The car gets driven every day. Makes the 40 mile commute much more fun. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

hotcam+headers did best of 29.3 mpg at
75mph with AC on late at night, mostly it
was 26ish mpg 75-80mph ac on.. during heat
of day ( cruize cntrl ).

I enjoy my digital temp gauge..
heat 220 during the day , 190 late nights.
( dallas to mobil al and back 4 july 2002 )
