Once you have all this power, you're probably gonna want a 12 bolt or 9in rear end to handle it. Possibly a built transmission, too. Those aren't cheap.
I am not going to go to aftermarket heads until I can afford both of those things. I may be limiting my potential, but at least i can be pretty sure I'm not gonna break a bunch of stuff.
I'd rather be able to use slicks and launch hard and run mid elevens(my goal with stock heads) than spin half way down the track with DR's or street tires(what I would do to avoid breaking things).
Sorry for the rant, but I think people get caught up in dyno numbers and forget about everything else.

But the real reason I posted is not because of the engine. It's because of the support systems. I know F8LPONY has had some of the same problems as I have. Unless you have built every last piece of your drivetrain, don't even consider heads and cam yet. Figure another $5K for that stuff. Rick and I dropped the motor in back in April and still have yet to track test it. A lot is because of our busy work schedule, but a lot is because stuff keeps breaking. I'm getting ready to install my third transmission. I already have a nine inch and custom driveshaft. This is on top of the Stage 4 Star clutch and Mcleod master. I'm going to have to upgrade clutches as soon as I decide to spray. I'm just saying the engine numbers are nice, but take it from me. Dyno sheets don't mean a damn thing when your car sits in the garage collecting dust.

I know several guys running cams with higher lift than I have, on stock heads. Eventually I will go to aftermarket heads, but it's gonna be awhile.
I am thinking of trying several different cams on stock heads before I pony up the money for ported ones.
