It is possible. I helped a friend of mine build his engine with heads and cam only, and the other bolt on stuff...and after tunning from Morgan Motorsports, we were able to get about 448hp to the wheels. So if you want to talk to him about his combo, contact him at Blackmagicss@mindspring.com

Well, poolfanatic made 445rwhp with the MTI X1 cam and MTI stage II or III LS6 heads. I don't think there are many on stock cubes with just heads and cam with over 450, 420 seems to be easily reachable with a mild package, and 430-440 or so seems about tops with the packages available now.
I am sure we will see higher numbers than 450 in the future.

Your gonna need a set of S2 or S3 LS6 heads, no cats (sorry), and and nothing less than a TR224 cam. Personally, i've never seen a hydraulic roller (stock cubes) hit 450. Seen several in the 440 range though. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Actually, you'll get a lot more answers by switching off your "caps lock" button. It's bad internet eticate to go all caps unless you're really mad.

450 rwhp is the current limit to output for guys running naturally aspirated 346 ci LS1s that still use them as daily drivers. They ususally have: Stage 2 LS1 or LS6 heads, minimum of 11 to 1 compression, mimimum of 224/224 cam (prefereable would be 230/224), headers with no cats, and a minimum of 28 degrees of timing, 0 knock retard, and 13 to 1 air/fuel ratio on the dyno. This will cost you about $4,000-5000 if you're starting with nothing.

To get more power you need to look at a solid lifter roller cam setup on a 346, a power adder or more cubes. Most guys on this board choose larger displacement because of its reliability, but the costs go up. I take it the easy way. Make a little over 400 rwhp on motor, then blast a 150 shot on top of it. Might want to check out the Jay Fisher/Joe Prince EWP because you'll need all the bolt on's and tricks to make 450rwhp. Also lightweight flywheels and carbon fiber are in your future.

Are you after strictly dyno numbers or track times? a difference of ~5rwhp isn't going to make that big of a difference at the track.

Throw a blower on there and you'll reach your figures. If you want to achieve 450hp without any power adders, then you are going to have to do some research.

Hmm, you are going to have to do the following:
-Good set of heads, maybe GTP or MTI
-Large reverse split cam
-Longtubes and maybe true dual exhaust
-LS1 Edit tuning
-TURN OFF CAPSLOCK!!!

Those should get you pretty damn close to your goal.
