Re: Every once in a while you get a freak
I think a guy in the local f-bod club had like a 12.80 nearly stock 1/4 in his 2002 ws6 m6... I think he had a lid and thas it

Re: Every once in a while you get a freak
Its funny that you say that.. A friend of mine that lives in South Florida has a 2001 WS6 and she dynos over 330rwhp as well.. Just a lid is the only mod that I know of.. I will get her exact #'s..

Re: Every once in a while you get a freak
She calls herself BADASBLU Her #'s are crazy for just a lid.. 337.50 RWHP 347.30 RWTQ. I think the reason why we see this is because of factory tolerances....

Re: Every once in a while you get a freak
I dont know if my car would be considered a freak but I ran a 13.0 @ 110 in the middle of july down here in Texas (last year) with my only mod being a flowmaster muffler
my car ran 11.8x's a little over a month ago with a race weight of 3550 on 16" wheels all the way around and only having bolt ons.

Re: Every once in a while you get a freak
Some LS1's are just built better than others..
Hell, my poor measily and "weak" 98 LS1 traps 115 mph with stock internals, ls1 intake, full weight and 3:42 gears. Did I also mention it makes over 350 rwhp with the ls1 intake, FULL exhaust, and no dyno trick? Maybe an ls6 intake, drop the exhaust and 360+ rwhp?
I am not suprised to see the 01-02's making this much power. The newer cam, intake, and programming should make for most of it. GM has had 5 yrs to perfect their design, wouldn't you think it would be just a tad better than the first ones?

Re: Every once in a while you get a freak
Damn, I must've gotten a turd. My first run was 13.67 @102. I've added a few bolt on and I'm only running 13.47 @105. I chalk that up due to poor traction though. Bone stock I dyno'd at 272rwhp and and 275rwtq with my A4 '00 Z28. With a lid and catback I'm right around 320rwhp.
Too bad our cars don't come with dyno graphs on the window stickers.

Re: Every once in a while you get a freak
My 98 A4 dynoed 290rwhp with a flowmaster muffler.
Bone stock LS1 cars run about 14.3 at the local track. No one around here seems to be able to put up any good numbers in the summer.

Re: Every once in a while you get a freak
i think it has to do with quality control with the cylinder heads
honestly, that is why some cars pick up SOOO MUCH from a heads/cam setup than others....their heads were just shittier from the factory
just my 2 cents

Every once in a while you get a freak
Just thought I'd throw it out there that I got to witness a 02 6m Z28 with basically a Borla and lid pull 333rwhp and 353rwtq?? It backed it up over and over to 336rwhp and 355rwtq.
Ended up playing around with LS1edit on it and got 338rwhp and 358rwtq consistantly. Next car that went up was a 99 C5 M6 all stock and it pulled 303rwhp so I don't think the dyno was off. The owner of the car even took the freak out to the track right after the dyno and was pulling almost 110mph trap speeds in horrible weather(4000DA).
Anybody ever figure out why we see a freak like this and what causes it? I didn't think of it until now we could have even played with the correction factor and upped it 20 more rwhp!!! ..jk

Re: Every once in a while you get a freak
What kind of dyno was it on? If it was a Djet than the hp # looks alright, but the tq is crazy.
Maybe on the last batch of ls1's GM fine tuned the program? It didnt pick up that much from the custom tuning so thats what i assume.

Re: Every once in a while you get a freak
Yes, there are factory freaks. I personally saw:
99 SS pull 330rwhp & 325rwtq bone stock and
02 WS6 pull 324rwhp & 338rwtq bone stock
other cars all dyno in normal limits for their mod's

Re: Every once in a while you get a freak
My 01 a4 pulled 317/334 with just a lid, cutout, and tr6's (for nitrous-not really optimum for n/a power). It has run in the 12.8x range at 109 mph n/a. Im thinking that it would have done better if the thing had not shot up to 210 degrees on the recorded run. Anyhow add 5% to my numbers and their m6 numbers dont seem so rediculous.

Re: Every once in a while you get a freak
those numbers are pretty close to what i've seen other 01/02's run. Mine put down 333rwhp/351rwtq down here on a very hot and very humid day. Car had 650 miles on it and had a lid and cutout. I ran a 12.82 @ 110.7 with those mods and less than 1000 miles on the car in mid 90's weather.

Re: Every once in a while you get a freak
Mine might be considered one of those "freaks"
Its a 99 formula 6 speed, its got over 60k on it now, but last year with 35k miles, whisper lid, ported tb, maf, and cutout it pulled 333/346 and backed it up with 332/342. 2 weeks later it went 12.55 112mph on bfg drag radials. This was a year ago, it hasnt really been the same since, broken driveshaft, broken pinion *stock gears*, broken tranny 3-4 sychros *twice, on 3rd one now*, and a bad vacuum leak from egr valve mod.

Re: Every once in a while you get a freak
without a doubt there are FREAKS out there!
I own a 02' Z28. She ran a 13.4 bone stock with 1500 miles on her. I am now down to 12.9 at 110 mph with basically just a lid and exhaust. The 6 spd helps too. Thanks GOD for the LS1!

Re: Every once in a while you get a freak
In 98 I had the opportunity to drive a new z28 with an M6 that a friend purchased.
The car with 400 miles on the odometer went a 13.07 @ 108 with my buddy driving.
Don't know if that qualifies as a freak of not. He was not the best driver behind a stick either. I think someone else driving could have gone a bit faster.

Re: Every once in a while you get a freak
Doesn't the LS6 intake help a little on the years that have it? 01-02 right? Weren't there other little improvements from GM through the years?
