The cam is installed. I used 941 springs with no fear of breaking because of the "mild" .525 lift. Now for those of you who don't know the cam specs are as follows: 226/236, .525/.525, on a 110lsa. There were many of you, including a GMPP distributer that claimed it would be impossible for this cam to idle, run or hardly start in my car. My mods are a lid, a Pace MAF, and grots running wide open. The cam install went well.. but I will never do a valve spring change again in car. If my car needs another full set change I'm buying assembled heads. Oh, now on to the results. This was installed last night with no TB drilling, shimming or programming. When I first started the car I grinned from ear to ear trying to keep the nervousness down. It ran.. I had to continue to push the gas pedal as it did not want to idle. Drove down the street a little bit and pulled to the side of the road to add some more coolant, and what do you know.. it idled on it's own. It now does so with the RPMs dropping from any speed. It does surge, but I expected that. The lope sounds well.. ignorant.. Which I wanted. I just thought I'd update everyone about the install as there were many non-believers. Ron, if you read this, thank you for letting me hear your car, drive your car and making me hooked on this cam.

Glad to hear you like it Jason. Now go get that car TUNED. I have seen a few cars down here pick up HUGE power with tuning on those bigger ASA cams. Tuning should also help with the surging. For now drill out your TB, and try adjusting the idle screw just a hair. Congrats dude..

Oh I'll defenitly be having it tuned soon. At a shop out here in the wild wild west the director of the ASA program owns it. He has since left GM and started his own performance shop. He'll be doing the tuning for me. He also requested that I don't drill the TB as it makes it harder to tune. We're trying to tune it, slap it on the dyno and thats it, no dyno tuning.

Jason, congrats man. Glad ya got it in. Im not sure why you used 941s, but hell if they work then go for it. Where are you these days? If you are still local I would suggest giving RP a call. They just tuned my car Saturday and made some mad power through out the entire curve. Enjoy it dude, I know ya got a huge smile on your face hearing that beast idle <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

I'm actually out in Phoenix now. The moment it started loping, wow.. I was grinning ear to ear. After going 2 months since hearing your car it brought back times seeing your car by Barrett and well, where ever we went for those races that one night where the cops followed us all around when we ran when the lights turned off. I went with the 941's because I got the cam, springs, retainers and pushrods for 250 bucks shipped. I figured for that price why not. Besides, it's only a .525 lift, I didn't think it was much of a problem. I'm planning on saving up for some GMPP CNC ported LS6 heads... 290cfm at .525 sounds pretty exciting for the cam. Can you send me some info on your custom nitrous kit? Thinking about tossing some on. Also, what else do I need to put on? I have the 98 injectors... I'll let you guys know when I get numbers. How much was RP charging for tuning? I think I'm getting mine done for 300 or so.

I think we'll see decent power with lower lift cams myself.. im not a cam genius, but i thought someone else had a nice combo with a lower lift cam and it pulled very strong. I personally like the peace of mind with a cam like that. Congrats on the new lope!
