Does anyone know how to tell a stock LS1 camshaft from a LS6 ??? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />
I can't find a part number on the cam, just some stamped codes.. <img border="0" alt="[Banging Head]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_banghead.gif" />
Thanks,
Dave

And one LS6 cam has different stamped codes on the end from another. I haven't seen a way to compare them yet - maybe that little "barcode" looking stamp on the end?
Of course - you could Cam Doctor it and see...

Don't have a cam doctor <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />
The codes stamed on the end have got to mean something <img border="0" alt="[Banging Head]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_banghead.gif" />

I just checked it out again, <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" /> No part number found.
The stampings on the front are
0950 , S 12 , 0242 , E
Do these stampings mean anything... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

I would say not enough flat area for a stamp. The '02 LS6 valve springs out of my Z06 are yellow/green color. The '01 LS6 valve springs are not yellow/green but are painted blue (I believe)? The Camshaft for 98-00 F-body had slightly more lift then the Camshaft for 98-99 Y-body hence why the F-body needed an egr system. In '01+ all the F-body LS1s got an LS6 intake with no egr system so the cams are the same now on both cars.
Notice you are from GA, which part?

Thanks, would you happen to know the specs of the 98 F cam vs 99 vette cam or 02 f-body cam? And I guess the regular ls-1 springs are black? Correct?
