I called LSM Systems Engineering, the guys who grind cams for the C5R, all of Katechs applications (street and race) and lots of other LS1s. I told them I wanted a cam slightly more aggressive than the XE-R ramps, which they were not familiar with. I gave him duration @ .200", .050" and max lift specs and he laughed, saying a 240/234 I suggested would make no power on the all bore I am building. Then he tried to get me to go with his 256/262 cam. I told him that was way too big, wont make as much power as a reverse-split that is similarly sized and is not even close to specs I would be looking at for a street driven car. He tried to argue with me regarding the reverse-split subject, God I hate dealing with old school SBC guys
Does anyone have any other suggestions or should I just stick with an XE-R cam?

So did he refuse to grind a cam to your specs? Tell him to take your money and give you the cam you want
BTW what do they charge?

He would grind a cam to my specs, but wants a $150 charge for each lobe profile that needs to be designed. Add that to his standard $425 charge and you can bet I will just go with Comp for my cam

I am having my 383 stroker finished very soon. I am thinking of going with something like:
241/253 .570/.570 @ 106 or 110lsa
I want all the power I can get. I don't mind the need for a higher rpm idle. I drive it daily for now and probably will 2-3/week after the new motor goes in. I know somebody with this cam, heads, headers, etc. (02 Z06) that put down 457/415.
