Default Torquer v3 untuned..

is it realllllly bad to romp it with out a tune, I know my AFR could be toatally off justy wondering after the swap and heat cycles on the springs, is it really bad to rip without tune....and TSP guidance would be nice as well, I have a local tuner but its way more than the TSP mail order, so what do you suggest, I live at 5800ft above sea level so that is going to have to be worked in my tune for sure....long story short, I want to rip it now! haha

Because that is a "not too smart" question.
TV3 is a big cam and going WOT without a tune can lead to severe engine damage due to too lean and detonation.
Tuning is part of cam swap and should be budgeted as so.

I would not recommend it. We made a pull on the dyno prior to starting tuning and my AFR shot 16:1. My LTFT's were 20% plus. This was cam and headers only.

At least get someone to get you in the window before you start smashing the loud peddle.

Predator-Z hit the nail on the head.

I will say the difference between tuned and untuned is night and day.

Be easy on it until you get it tuned. It's going to drive like **** anyways, just be patient and wait.

thanks everyone so do you think the Mail order from TSP would be the way to go because the tune shop in town probably take way longer to schedule it and all also tripple the price and i think ive heard good things about TSP MOT

At a minimum a mail order tune from TSP should get you in the window. Something is better than nothing.

At 5800 elevation I wouldn't waste my money. Make an appointment, get it done right and don't try and half *** it.

I talked to someone running the Tv2 and he ad a mail order tune from TSP and he decided to drive to TSP to get a dyno tune from them and they only got 5hp more than the mail order tune. These guys know there cams and can set you up pretty good with the mail order tune.

I've been running TSP's mail order tune on my T3 since August. Plenty of WOT runs on the street, just takes a few min to warm up and its ready to go...but a dyno tune is coming soon because I know it can be better.

Yeah, at sea level or close to it I'm sure he'd be fine. Have you ever driven a car at sea level, then the same car at 6000ft? It's completely different, I drove my Vette from Detroit to Denver and the tune is dead nuts on here in Michigan but it ran like **** at that elevation. Oh, and I have the Tv2 you are referring to. Not trying to be a dick, its just completely different with that much of an elevation difference.

well i wont be driving to sea level anytime soon so do you think TSP can figure out a tune for Denver Elevation? im just not sure if I want to waste on a dyno session because he couldnt get my buddies mustang to even idle after like 2 sessions but thats completly different, I cant cough that much cash right now either just wondering if the Mail order tune would at least get me driving it without tooo many problems and allow a few wot passes

5 hp means nothing. The added drivability / idle quality would have probably made it worth it.

Hey Mike I understand the dyno tune is a better idea I just wanted to give some advise from someone I know that has had it done. I live at 5500ft and the guys at TSP knew that about this guy’s situation. It is always a better idea to get a dyno tune but if he wants get the car on the road sooner than later I'd go for it. I don't think you a dick it all make for good discussion.
