Default I can do a compression test right?

yes or no? To see if i bent a valve?

i'm just not 100% sure, so someone let me know so i can check out my cyl after the spring comes off

Compression check isn't the best way to find if a valve is bent. A leakdown is better.

You have to loosen the rockers for the cylinder in question (allows valves to close). Then use a leakdown tester to see how much leak you have.
