Default HELP!! Need Hot Cam advice. WTF!

Not one tech person could help me at three different GMPP places regarding the LS1 Hot Cam Kit. They have not even heard about this cam.

The lowest price I was quoted was $400 from the GMPP ad on this forum. But, the guy didn't know anything about this cam.

For the experts.. Will this cam kit wreck the pistons, rods, etc? Will longevity of the motor be drastically reduced with this kit?

I know there are better performers out there, but I like the price and I like the sound. GM also produces it. But no one seems to know about this kit anywhere. WTF? Please help. Any info is good info.

I want to buy this cam from a place that knows this cam and who can assure me it will work fine.

For those who have purchased this kit (LS1 Hot Cam) Please, I need some advice! Can you hook me up with a distributor who knows this part?

I know Speed Inc up around Chicago has the Hot Cam in their online catalog, and I'm guessing they have some history with this cam. I've bought a lot of bolt-ons from them (in the 3 weeks that I've had my SS ), and they're always been cool to work with. I'd suggest giving them a call or shooting them an email (they've always responded back within a day via email... at least so far )

If you haven't already, check 'em out...

http://www.ls1speed.com/

Let me know what you hear, as I'm also very interested in the hot cam... just have to finish paying of my current mods

BTW, they also have done an excellent job of price matching, so if you've been quoted a price...

Tom & Larry @ Speed Inc. know thier stuff They can answer just about any question you may have. They are installing my HotCam kit in a couple weeks (I bought mine from SDPC - another board sponsor).

Good luck,

If you are calling GM car dealerships that are listed as GMPP dealers, be wary. I have dealt with some of these clowns, and a few of the parts managers I have talked to didn't even know they were listed as a GMPP dealer. You are better off going with www.speedinc.com or www.thunderracing.com or another aftermarket supplier.

It's a decent cam. good price ok power,as for longgevity it's good, due to a low max lift of .525 it doesn't tear up spring& guides It definately wont be the same animal with any cam
