Hey Stan it was cool talkin to you as well. U should do the cam. The smaller the cam the less cahnce of them breaking. Anyway they said it was a bad batch so maybe now they will have the good ones ready to go.

Re: Time to Speak - 26918 Spring Failures
I got my T1 cam & 918's towards the end of May. They seem to be fine so far.
If anybody in the Houston area has one fail and would like a metallurgist to look at it, I can take it out to the refinery where I work and have one of the metallurgists there look at it. They will be able to tell us what the failure mechanism was.

Yeah, thunder seems like people who work with ya. but Im thinking of rather than worrying about it (even if I got a replacement) just going with another spring. The isky's have been suggested to me.

I got my replacement 918 from them after mine broke, so they know about some of the recent breaks. Jason works there so i know he's filled them in on the breaks.

increased spring loads will be required. COMP Cams 977-16 valve springs and COMP Cams 875-16 Pro Magnum hydraulic roller lifters are strongly recommended.
This was discussed when the XE-R lobes first came out and then people to decided the 918s were adequate.
BTW, I'm not here to support COMP. To me it sounds like a bad batch of springs. However, I point this out to those in the market for a cam now who may have forgotten, or been unaware of, the debate over using 918s with XE-R lobes.

It looks like Comp is consistent. Knock on wood, I've put 1,300 HARD miles on my 918's with no problems. These were bought/installed in early April. We're starting to use the new Manley springs here at the shop. Only time will tell how well they hold up, but so far so good.
