What really gets me mad is the fact that Comp advertises this spring good to 0.600", claims there has been one failure, and says there are no problems.
I know from a reliable source that there IS a problem and it is related to certian "batches".
Comp better come across with an answer to this soon or they risk litigation.
Just a note to let everyone know to BEWARE!

<strong>also, can you post a pic showing the actual break point...I saw 98TAauto's and its defintately a defect...wasn't a clean break <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" /> </strong></font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">yeah mine was all zigzagged around the break. You could fit it together like a puzzle piece <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />
Broke a 941 early on when that was the only option for a spring <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" /> and learned that the 941 was really for short term use only like a 500 mile endurance race.

I replied your E-mail, let me know if I could be of anymore assistance, New install guys, don't worry, just get the 295 Isky's and remove the inner dampner and you will be fine. Like we went over in another thread, the 918 springs will break within 200 miles of spirited driving/dynoing if defective.. Ooops, I used that word. If they last up to 1,000 miles, you should be in the clear. It's hard to nail down a "production date" and there is no "batch" number on the box. BUT the bad sets I have seen/heard of and have consulted customers about with this problem seem to have been purchased on or about June to the begining of Aug of 02.
Niphilli,
Do not use the Manley Nex Tek springs, there is a certain tuner that has used them religously in the past and they drop like flies. I had 2 customers break the Manley's with a 218/.528 cam and a 216 cam.
Joe.

</strong></font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">no crap.... i was a nervous wreck till i got that sucker off and everything seemed to be fine with the new one on <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
the thing that sucks is anyone could really fack up a engine with a spring break. Even cruising around <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />
