Default New Project

Have another 99 TA with auto. Has 12 bolt with 3.73s. FLPs, loudmouth, Yank ST3500, ram air. Looking to change it to a 382 with Stage 2 heads and LS6 Intake. What kind of grind should I get for the camshaft? Also should I get a 58mm Throttle body or 80mm Throttle body with 48lb injectors? Car must be able to exceed 200MPH.

Yes, it is. With enough power and the right gears...

I say BBK. Check out my post in External engine on Stock ported TB Vs. the BBK. The bbk made 4 rwhp and 9 rwtq over the ported stock.

Check sig for mods.

Also, should I change the stage 2 heads with stage 3 to give it that extra push? GTPs of course! Ok BBKs but which one, 58mm or 80mm?

80mm BBK is the LS1 one.

58mm BBK is the LT1 one, and that's DUAL 58mm openings FYI.

Ok 80mm one, but what about the camshaft? How radical should I go? I'll need all the specs for it.

If I did a 382ci motor I would look into a cam that was over 230 duration for the intake and the exhaust, but I would also go for something that will pass emissions if you need to.

you need maximum top end pull for the 200mph runs. I would stuff the biggest cam in there that will fit on the intake side and add 9 degrees to the exhaust duration. Are you talking all bore or stroker 382?
Cheers
Chris

No one can give you exact cam specs right now as to what will work until you tell us more about the car. Gearing, who is doing the heads, header primary length etc are all very important information if you want to get to 200 mph.

Headers are FLP longtubes. All suspension components are done.Yank ST3500, 12bolt with 3.73 gears. Emissions won't be a problem since I know people who will pass me.

382 stroker. Don't want to turbo or supercharge this on. Want to keep it N/A. Thinking of getting Stage 3 heads from Thunderracing. Anything else? All I need are the cam specs, since that is the cornerstone of this whole madness.
