9/6/02 Project Dragula Update
1) diagnose backfire problem
2) install new ARE LS6 stage III heads, and cam
3) dynotune new combo
4)install PA k member, and BMR upper and lower A arms
1) Well, Jim Moran aka Intmd8 is their pcm tuner and he redid my old tuning and the problem went away. I was getting a lean backfire at high rpms from improper injector scaling and other improperly tuned items in the pcm.
2) New heads and cam are installed. We went from LS1 stage III heads to LS6 stage III heads. Also went from 10.8:1 to ~12:1 compression. New cam is a Comp and is on a 112. New cam is more cammin' for sure. Car is SOTP much faster according to the Speed crew. Car will not hook up on the 28" MH's at all. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
Rest happens very soon and then I hope to have the car out at the GLD Real Street Drags on 9/12/02.
Hopefully the car is 200 lbs lighter and makes 40 more rwhp.
Ultimately with the right converter, at 3400 raceweight we are hoping for 10.4's...

I did the original heads and cam on it with friends a few years ago, the exhaust, most of the suspension, and also installed the Moser 9". I've installed or helped install pretty much everything on an F-car including pulling shortblocks out of HackerJoe's car.
I have never pulled the tranny, did not weld in the cage, and did not pull the motor for the stroker.
Sometimes it's been a mix, when the car was up at ARE for the 422ci, I got there early and with Nick's approval I went ahead and pulled off the intake manifold and one of the cylinder heads after we pressure tested the engine.

You NEED to get it on a dyno and get it tuned properly. Do it right and get the numbers you want out of it. Hell I picked up 35RWHP midrange and 30RWHP peak from a tuning change on the SAME combo. (The tuning was optimized for an A4 and when I switched to a M6 it was out of whack) From the baseline M6 pull to post tuning the gain was amazing.
