Default Why no gear drives for LS1's?

Is there a reason why the only aftermarket timing gear we have is the chain type?

Gear drives are typically very noisy. The harmonics they send through the block put the knock sensors in hyper-drive, which effects timing and other computer functions.

I've got a "quiet" gear drive on my 454 in my '71 and I hate that sumbitch ! It's just obnoxious and sounds like a piece of crap. I'm pulling it out for either a Jesel belt drive or a true roller chain.
