Default What kind of gains can I expect from this?

My insurance company is paying to have my hydrolocked engine rebuilt, so I am gonna see about having the shop install the LS6 Cam, LS6 Intake, and Port my heads, while they're at it.

How much more HP would this get me?

Would my engine basically be the same as an LS6?

Also what might I run at the track, considering my present mods, plus the new work?

I ran a 14.0 the week I bought the car, and haven't been back to the track since.

First of all, you should be ashamed of running a 14.0....... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_tounge.gif" />

I don't know what shop you are taking it to, but make sure they know what they are doing regarding the port work to your head.

The LS6 Intake, and LS6 cam are going to be minimal gains if you are still using the stock exhaust system. The port work on your head, is going to depend on the porter.

I am just guessing, because it really depends on the portwork of your heads, but you could see a 30 to 40 HP gain.

It won't be just like an LS6 because your heads designs is going to be different from an LS6 head. If you are going to be using a new LS1 style block, then block is going to be the same as the LS6, but the heads are going to be different.

Yeah, I just got the car that week, and I was pretty let down by that ET.
My guess is that it was very cold that late Oct night, and the track was less sticky.
The car was also bone stock.
Also it had the original 1998 F1's that were dry rotted and almost bald on them, and I lost a lot of traction with TC off.
The tires were also pumped to 40 psi
And some jackass in a C5 told me the best way to launch was to leave the TC on and just floor it.
Also I was guessing it was slower because it's a convertible.

Anyway, I hope to do waaaay better next time.
The shop doing the work is East Coast Supercharging in NJ, they specialize in this stuff.
You said the LS6 cam & intake won't do much with the stock exhaust, but I dumped the Z28 catback, and put an SS catback on it, and also got a cutout.
Won't that help?

So bone stock with shot tires, I ran 14.0.

Hopefully next time I run it will be with my present mods:

Yank TT2800, Lid, FTRA, MAF Ends, Cut-out... PLUS the LS6 Cam & Intake, and ported heads.

What might I run the next time? 13.2 maybe???

Not a drag racing exper:
If you can get it to hook, you should be able to run a flat 13.0. Especially with this better wheather coming in.

Alot of your mods seems to be a half marriage.

I'm not a TC expert, because I am an M6, but the perfect marriage is a TC and a set of tires. Without something to grab, your not getting what you can out of your TC.
It is the "out of the hole" that makes the TC guys mean, not their trap speed.

Good Luck

All I meant was that alot of your mods have only half the equation to make you go fast.

For Example:
Ported Heads and Cam: Work REALLY well with very little exhaust modifications. A restrictive exhaust with these mods, will choke out a lot of horsepower.
Torque Converter: TC's work best with sticky tires, or some form of slick. A TC on shitty tires is going to do what you described.....spin

Don't get me wrong, the setup that you have is going to be much better than stock, but if you are looking for another mod, I would highly recommend exhaust or tires.

Also, what's the best STREET tire out there?
I dont want any kind of slicks, or DRs.
