I used the jaws of a small three jaw puller bolted to the frame of a large three jaw puller, if that makes any sense. I just put the crank pulley bolt in the crank so it didn't damage the threads when the center pushed on it. Someone may have another puller type, but this worked for me. I got the small and the large pullers at O'Riley's. Hope this helps!

I was there 3-4 days ago. I used the larger 3 jaw puller. First i heated up the crank gear w/ a blow torch and them wrapped the puller around it best as possible and it came off like butter. Kinda hard by myself though because I could have used a 3rd hand to hold the puller.

i tried to use the 6" 3 jaw puller, but the claws on the puller was too thick. then i rented a smaller puller that looks very similar to the one that was in the haynes manual and i ended up breaking 2 teeths on my crank sprocket and damaging couple of my crank threads. i ended up buying a tool from kent-moore. just like this one here. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/KENT-...QQcmdZViewItem
