Default Project Dragula Update (Dyno #'s)

Background info...

Dragula has the following:

ARE 422ci Iron block (4.060 bore)
FLP level IV
Yank 3800-4200 stall
Moser 9", 4.11, locker

346ci dyn #'s (circa 2000)
350rwhp unlocked
375rwhp locked, 413 rwtq
-GTP 2.02/1.57 heads
-Comp 222/224//113 cam
-PI 3600 stall, later pulled out
-9", 3.50 gear
-26 degrees of timing
-With some weight reduction and 4.10 gear, plus an LS6 intake which was also added a year later, it went 11.5@116mph.

Old dyno #s: 437rwhp, 477rwtq
-ARE 422ci iron
-ARE stage III LS1 heads, 10.8:1 compression
-ARE/ Lunati 244/244/114 cam (590 lift)
-unlocked
-70F
-Spring
-on 26" ET Streets
-31 degrees of timing
-Makes 409rwhp by 4500 rpms
-Peak RWHP at 6000 rpms
-Peak RWTQ at 4500 rpms
-Makes 427-437rwhp from 5000 to 6500
-Converter is flashing to 3800 (estimated)
-Car went 11.15@120mph with a 3650 raceweight, due to adding the iron block and an 8 pt 'moly cage. Also later found out that some of the pcm tuning was off, and the car would run lean most of the time and that resulted in the lean backfire problem I was chasing for most of the summer. I think the car had more mph in it.

New dyno #'s: 450rwhp, 531rwtq
-ARE 422ci Iron
-ARE stage III 02 LS6 heads, 11.9/12:1 compression
-ARE/ Comp XE-R 24_/24_/112 cam (over 600 lift)
-unlocked
-104F
-End of summer
-On 28" MH's
-27 degrees of timing.
-Makes 440rwhp by 4500 rpms
-Peak RWHP at 5500 rpms (seems low)
-Peak RWTQ at 4200 rpms
-Makes 440-450rwhp from 4500 to 6500
-Converter is flashing to 4200
-Dynoing on 28" cheater slicks, thru 9" with 4.10's...
-ARE/Comp 24_/24_//112 cam
-ARE O2 LS6 heads, 12:1 compression
-Speed Inc. Tuning

The Speed crew has had a lot of fun 'testing' the car around their industrial park. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Dynoing thru a 9", with 4.11's, with the converter unlocked and thru the stock steel driveshaft is going to show a lower RWHP # but I do not lock the converter at the track so the locked numbers are not that important to me, I think that locking up the converter too much can result in blowing the pump.

Mods I want and do not have:
FTRA
Lightweight battery
Meziere Waterpump
!rear bumper

Since my 11.15 run I have picked like 30rwhp avg and 50 ft lbs of tq avg, and have removed 100-150 lbs of weight, and gone to a 28" slick, so I hope the car runs good.

Car was dynoed with a mix of 93 and a 100, but I would rather not run the car on race gas but I might tonite.

Car broke the tailshaft of the tranny yesterday so we replaced that and are waiting for a HD steel race driveshaft.

neat. LOCK THE F*CKING CONVERTER. you shout all this **** about your bad *** 4L60 yet you wont lock the TC for a real dyno session? not that dynojet numbers are real anyway.

congrats on a larger verter flash from the high-doller heads though.

you LOVE to change 3 things at once, then you cant even test them right. whats the point of posting as if you are conducting a test or comparison?

all in fun john

Ryan

John where is the power? In fairness my 396 only did 466rwhp (although with a really loose stall), 496rwhp locked up.

The new HD driveshaft arrived and the car is ready.

If things go okay I will lock up the converter at the track.

That was not a spike, the last time we spike the converter the torque spike was around 650 Ryan.

And I am not the highest dynoing NA LS1 from Speed Inc, I am #2. #1 is ARE 427ci iron block and it did 469rwhp/ 535rwtq, Yank 4000, stock rearend unlocked.

I have to run, but Terry, you are running thru the stock rearend?

I am running thru a 9" with 4.10's and a Tractech soft locker. From what I have seen folks get like a 10rwhp difference once they do a 9", so I don't feel THAT bad. I did not have time to also swap on some radials and instead dynoed on 28" slicks. I'm sure if I play all the dyno games I can get a much better number. Right now I don't care, I have been inoperable for a long time and tonite I get to run the car....

Good luck tonight! 10's should be a cake walk, but bring along some real 26" slicks just incase. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Awesome numbers! <img border="0" alt="[hail]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_hail.gif" />
I always locked the converter in my GN. Built 200-4R with built factory D5 converter. Was usually worth a couple of MPH, which probably equates to 20-30hp considering it was a 3800lb car. If you built the tranny, lock it like it's meant to be! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
Good luck with the car <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

I think the car should run great. It will be interesting to see the locked numbers. 30RWHP and 50RWTQ from that swap is nice <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
Good luck at the track tonight, you running the 28x10 inch slicks?
Cheers,
Chris

I went 11.1@122mph on a 1.56, stock airbox, no FRA, no FTRA, on the 28 hoosiers. DA was 1200, we are 800 ft, humid was 60%.

I need like another 500 stall the converter is way too tight. Only stalls to like 3600-3800

Went almost 98 in the 1/8th so it up 3mph at the 1/8th... I did not lock the converter I got in 3 runs in 4 hours.

I have a lot I can do to play with the combo, I'm around 3500 raceweight.

You need to put that TP4000-4200 in the car and get back to the track with a lockup. Your RWHP and curbweight = ~10.7ET at 127mph with lockup.
Cheers,
Chris

Why are you comparing your car to Chris Endres?

You were just talking about all this weight reduction and yet your car still remains heavy.
<img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

Maybe you can fly Terry out here to work his magic. <img border="0" alt="[devil]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_devil.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[fight]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_punch.gif" />

In any case, congrats on the new bests and I'm sure they'll get better! <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

I plan to go racing again on Tuesday either at RT66 or GLD. I'd like to RT66 but I might get busted for not having metal valvestems for my slicks. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />

From what I see, NONE of the 10 second NA guys are running less than a 4400 stall. I think this TPE3600 is totally killing my 60 ft. I'm still getting like 6-8 inches of air and I even got air on a 1.70 pass.

Let me see what lower shift points and FTRA does for me, I plan to race every week.
