Default 15w-50 mobil 1

does anyone here use 15w-50 in the LS1's? all i have is a lid and loudmouth at the moment. there was a problem in the computer at the kmart down the road and my dad bought me 4 cases for $3.99(6 quarts). i was thinkin that it might be to much, what do you think????

Hey is that 3.99 per quart or per case? Do you use 15w50. If you don,t, go to Wal-Mart and swap it for 10w30. Or you could mix 1 qt. with 5qts of 10w30. Jimmy

I use 15w50 mobil 1 in my 502 big block you should use 10w30 for a LS1.

Too thick. It'll just cause you to run higher oil temps, with no reduction in engine wear. Maybe even higher engine wear since it causes the engine to work harder.

Some people have posted that have used it with success. I would just use it. If i was concerned then i may use some now, and save some for next summer use. In the heat i don't believe it will matter at all. According to Mobil , it's for high performance engines. You have one. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
