GM powertrain engineers told the Car Craft/Hot Rod staff that some 2004 Vettes will have a 6.6L LS1 based engine. If this is really going to happen, knowing what the Bore & Stroke will be could seriously effect a persons engine building plans.
Ex. ~$1000 factory 6.6L block vs. $2100 resleeved block.
~$500 factory 6.6L crank vs. $2300 Lunati.
Any ideas on how GM is getting 6.6L?
4.0"x4.0", old style 4.125"x3.75" or something else?

That is one of the reasons I didn't go with an aluminum big bore block right now.
I hope they build it with a 4.125" bore because then I'll already have the 4.125" crank from iron block motor I'm getting built now.

As it stands today, not all the components are interchangable! You will not see this engine until the 2005 model year cars, which translates into the calender year of late 2004.

On a semi-side note, last year GM made a Silverado SS concept truck that had a 6.6 liter LS1 based engine in it. I assumed at the time that it was a standard 6 liter block stroked.

If the rumor is true, I just hope the new block or crank is a cheap alternative

I read somewhere about 12 GM engineers being fired for leaking info on a ls1 ased "cam-less" engine that is supposedly due out around the same time....could it be the same.....
