405rwhp unlocked converter with G5 cam but new 1/4 mile
We had one of our customers put down a new best with a G5 cam and head package.
11.06 @ 122mph
The car dynoed 406rwhp and 378.6 rwtq with the converter unlocked.
The car is a 99 TA and was on ET streets.
And to top it off it was a GIRL DRIVER.
It won't take much to get the car in the 10's. Probably just a good day, and she'll be there.
ALSO:
Hang in there, we will have our G5 SR cam in the Corvette for the fastest Corvette Shootout in Texas, at River city on the 29th. We will post new dyno numbers this week end.
We will also have two new 418ci and a 427ci G7-SR on hand . Both put out over 500rwhp and they will have outnew LG Motorsports Super Clutch installed.
Thanks,
Lou Gigliotti LG Motorsports

That sounds great! I wish my T/A could get those numbers! I have a M6 car. Planning to order a heads&cam package from Thunder. I need to decide what cam I want.
It's too bad that I live in near the city and I don't know a knowledgable staff of LS1 technicians to operate on my car.
I wonder if that's her daily driver car.

JS, They plan to get the major details ASAP. the car was tuned this weekend, and then she hit the track shortly after. It does have the Stock 10bolt with 3.73s,however, a moser is in order due to some not so nice sounds from it.
JMX- Lou's computer JUST crashed a matter of minutes ago ( I was on the phone with him). He will get back to you soon. Or you could call now 1-877-546-6867.
Ill gather all the details from it tomorrow, but Im merely relaying information from them to you

Re: 405rwhp unlocked converter with G5 cam but new 1/4 mile
Trevor or I will get all the details from the car owner.
We have worked on the ports for the last year, and on the LS1 heads we now have a C&C program that does the porting. Then there is a full day of hand work to finalize the port work. The LS6 heads are still hand ported. Our in house head porter went to the Roush, then to Jeff Gordon's Winston Cup team. We now get our heads done in North Carolina. There is no greater head porting knowlege anywhere.
The TA here did the 11:06 with our LS1 heads, and G5 cam. And we know that there is 7CFM more flow in the LS6 heads. We also have a bigger port and valve size for our larger ci engines that flow over 335cfm. These would be the one to use for the all out big hp numbers, and for drag racing with a large stall converter. We haven't put a full race head on a customers stock ci car yet because they all want low end torque for the street.
Thanks,
Lou Gigliotti LG Motorsports

Re: 405rwhp unlocked converter with G5 cam but new 1/4 mile
Heh, heh... 11.06 for an N/A street car is hauling the eff-ing mail, man. Congrats, Lou!!
Unfortunately (for me, since I have an M6 car), that car is an A4 with what I'm sure is a pretty healthy converter. I have to wonder how much higher the ET would be with a row-your-own tranny?? Maybe 2-3 tenths??
In any event, I think it's pretty cool to see that someone with the full G5 setup put it in a car oriented towards drag racing; the results are pretty impressive, IMO.

My car is scheduled for a G5 install at LGM this Friday. Can't wait to see what I do at the track too. Great numbers, Lou.

Re: 405rwhp unlocked converter with G5 cam but new 1/4 mile
I just got off of the phone with the car owner. She's a very cool woman!
'99 Ann. Ed. T/A A4
*Yank Pro Thruster 4400 torque converter
*3.73's
*Mac mid-length headers with P&H header extensions (She just installed FLP's)
*built 4L60E trans.
*26x10x15" ET Drags
*Hal shocks with Eibach springs
Her best pass of 11.06 @ 122 MPH was run at the Texas Motorplex. She had a 60' time of 1.50 on that pass. She has had plenty of 1.4x 60' times, but her best pass was with the 1.50. She should have some solid 10's this fall N/A. FYI, her raceweight was 3,400#.

11.06 @ 122mph
The car dynoed 406rwhp and 378.6 rwt at 3400 lb.
I'm sure someone's gonna disagree with me for saying this but, . At that weight, you'd need well over 475rwhp and significantly higher torque to manage that ET. With the mph and ET, it looks like the car either made more power/torque, or it's much lighter than stated. Those numbers just don't add up. Even with super low gearing and a completely flat torque curve, it doesn't make sense.
I'm not saying the car didn't run those numbers. I am saying it's either far lighter (2800 range) or it's making much more power/torque than we know.

Re: 405rwhp unlocked converter with G5 cam but new 1/4 mile
We have always said that our dyno is a little low.
But why is it that you all believe 431 rwhp from a Cam only stock head car, but you don't believe an 11.06 from a head and cam car built to the max, with ET Slicks?
I love the internet.

Re: 405rwhp unlocked converter with G5 cam but new 1/4 mile
Apparently you have not been following the cars here on LS1Tech.com very long. It DOES NOT take 475 RWHP to run 11.0's! I run 11.60's at over 3,500# with 360 RWHP, John Campbell (Raughammer) runs 10's with right at 400 RWHP (much lighter car), and we even have stock-internal autos running in the 11's with 320 RWHP or less, etc. I have been involved with LS1's since 1998, and my '98 TA ran 11.30's with a 3,640# raceweight and 398 RWHP. I would recommend that you check out the board's ET list that can be found in the drag racing section. Just ask any of the quick autos what they're dynoing and running at the track, and you'll see that it doesn't take near as much power to run a nice ET if the car is setup properly. I ran 12.0's in my SS with 315 RWHP, and I expect to run some 11.40's this fall with STOCK HEADS in some nice weather with a raceweight hovering in the 3,500# range. All it takes is the proper setup to make a car run.
Feel free to give me a call here at the shop if you would like to discuss this further. I would be glad to talk to you about setting your car up for the 1/4-mile. Again, it doesn't take near the amount of horsepower that most think to run quick, particularly with the automatics, when the car is setup for it. The owner of this car is supposed to be at the Southern Shootout in Louisiana on November 2nd, so maybe you can make it out then to check the car out for yourself. You could also buy an auto-equipped LS1, bring it to us, and let us perform some magic on it. Then you'll realize that the performance is easily repeatable when you have a complete package working together.

Trevor, was that 3400# raceweight with or without driver?
Either way, that is an awesome ET with a TA to boot!
1.4 and 1.5 60's all day long is sick! I gotta get me a PT4400.
