Default SLP 525hp package, is it worth it?

i am also lookin at the SLP 525hp package,

AFR heads and very agressive cam,

the price is 2995,

is it worth the 1000 more than the patriot stageII heads with roller rockers included?

3k is a little to much for me just for the cam/heads. but i dont wanna buy something that disapoints me

Most people on here would agree that it's not worth it. Shop around man! There's much better parts/service out there! Call up a few sponsors.

Id give TSP, Patriot, or Thunder (among countless other sponsers) a call before going the SLP route.

i wonder if SLP ever checks the forums like this that catter to the kind of cars that they too catter too? It seems pretty unanimouse that they are very overpriced. I bought the lid and catback, but the catback was used and well, i just liked the look of the lid.

IMO there's nothing wrong with SLP, they have done lots of quality work. The only issue I have heard about was their long tube headers hung lower than others (though the performance was just fine).

SLP's biggest problem IMO is their pricing... but you'd be surprised how many people I see at car shows and whatnot that buy the big $ SLP packages, so I guess some people just swear by them. Their lid is nice, I have it

Shop around there are tons of better H/C options

with only 400 horsepower you should be able to go in the 11s. The most important part is being able to launch it. o the #1 thing you need is a good set of tires that have good traction. such as m/t drag radials.

Also SLP has a lot of marketing. They make quality parts, but BS a lot on their HP ratings, they are also expensive.

My suggestion, unless its an airlid stay away from SLP...

At least from my experience... Ive seen a few of their 402 stroker motors get trashed within 900 miles and SLP will not warranty the work, so whoever paid 7k or however much it was for that motor was out the money.

Once again, this is just my experience, but I heard their customer service blows.

patriot stageII heads, 59cc
roller rocker kit 1,7
232/230 .580"/.580" 110 LSA Cam
FAST 90mm intake
90mm TB
LT's
non catted Y pipe
loudmouth1 exhaust
ls2 flywheel
ls7 clutch kit
better fuel pump (like walbro)
bigger injectors
better Fuel rail
good tune
4.10diff

i have allready bougth some of this,

my car is an 31k M6 car,

i was hoping to get more then 400rwhp out of this, more like in the 450zone, and the goal was mid 11's. ( wanna beat my friends cobra )

i am putting a lot of mony in this in one part,, so it would suck to go 12 something when i am allready goin low 13's @103mph on a bone stock car, this package is 5k+

Hello Guys and Gals,

We are here, check out our posts and our new L92 packages. You will not find a cheaper setup anywhere that makes the SAME+ power as the AFR setup on a 402 or LS2.

http://www.slponline.com/coming_soon_12293.asp

Please ask questions and search for "SLP L92" to answer some before you ask. Also please take a look at our website, besides our long tube headers our prices are right in line, if not lower. Latest Example = our new L92 Packages. P/N 12292 & 12293.

Thanks
Hank

Whats included in the SLP package? AFR's are $2000 minmum and they are one of the best heads on the market. That leaves 995 for what? an lg cam is 450. a custom cam is 400-450 or you can get a tr cam for 389 so that leaves how much left over. You need upgraded springs beyond the 918's that I think come on the afr's at 2k so all those nay sayers arent really educated if you ask me.
The AFR is a superior head to the Patriot.

Ok looked at the package. Those are the 225 cc AFR's so the head is more like 2200 minimum and you need to shop hard to find it at that price. Their package isnt as bad as I've seen other sponsors charge on here thats for damn sure.

Slp makes a good LS6 intake manifold also, but i would definantly go with some other company like texas speed just bc they have alot more selection for a good price.

As far as I am aware the lowest price for a 225cc AFR head is about $2450.00 if you are lucky to find that. We are right there. We have some distributors of our parts that we can not sell lower then as we upset the apple carts of our parts. If you want you can shop around at places like LM Performance for a cheaper price on the SLP kit, as they sell our parts as well as many others.

Thanks
Hank

I have to agree $2450 for that head is right on. I might be able to get it better just cause I've spent good money with a few sponsors. The 525hp package isnt over priced at all.

I understand if you "heard" of us not to warrenty our work but you are mistaken and the "few 402s" that you have seen get trashed in 900 miles are not SLP motors.

Here is just one example.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...=Hank+Daniecki

Seach for SLP 402 and my name or SLP 402 and you should find happy customers.

Just trying to keep rumors to a minimum, and what you are stating is a rumor.

edit: As well our 402 short blocks are roughly $4300.00 depending on iron or alum.

Thanks
Hank
