I would also change the oil as well, to avoid spinning any bearings if you did dump some fuel into the crankcase.

Could this have anything to do with my problem?

I'm going to do everything suggested in this thread but I'm just trying to cover all the bases now because we (me and my mechanic) have one shot to get this right then I'm on my own and I don't have the time or experience to figure this out on my own.

UPDATE:

We just got done doing a lead down test. First, all the spark plugs looked great. All cylinders were 10-11% except for #7 which was 36%. My mechanic said 11% is completely normal and he thought I might be able to make it through the drag season despite #7. He also said it would probably only rob about 5 horsepower. I don't know what to think. I have no experience with this sort of thing. We're fixing the oil leak tomorrow (unrelated) and redynoing. I guess I'll just try to get through the season with the way it is and replace the #7 piston next winter.

Did he use the leak down test to pinpoint the leak. thats the good thing about a leak down tester you can find out exacly where you are leaking from. Since its on #7 i would suspect a burned valve or some other head/valve damage.

The heads are brand new. He said it was either a cracked ring or piston or the rings are "line up," not sure what that means. He said he couldn't hear air coming from the intake or the exhaust but when he pulled the dip stick tube he could hear the air and feel it.

If the air is coming out the dip stick tube then your rings are fucked. The engine will have to be pulled, disassembled, and sent to the machine shop for a cylinder hone. Might as well forge it while youre at it.

Sure can, it may be a little down on power from the 36% leakage

I thought the term "Line up" meant that all the ring gaps were in line, They are suppose to be staggered, correct??

OK, thanks for all the help guys! I'm going to race it as is a couple times while I'm waiting for my mechanic to schedule me back in later this Spring. Hopefully she'll hold till then. My mechanic thought I'd only be down a few horsepower, like maybe 5. Are you in agreement with this?

when you pull the piston, make sure and look at the cyl. it may be scored. in which case a new piston/ring wont do the trick for you. it'll need to be dissasembled and honed, as suggested earlier.
but you wont hurt anything by running it.
