Default The Plan: 414"; Solid roller; Iron Block; need help.

Ok, here goes this is my current plan and I need some supporting advice.

Rotating Assembly:
6.0L Iron block bored .060
Lunati/Cola Billet 4" crank
6.125 forged rods
Custom pistons Ross/JE/SRP/Diamond
Shooting for 11.5:1 compression ratio

Valve train:
XXX/XXX Camshaft????
T&D shaft mount 1.7 Rocker arms
1.550 springs/retainers
2.08/1.60 valves
C5R valve covers

Drive train:
TP4000
4L60E
3.73 gears

The question that I really have is on the valve train components. What do you guys reccomend? The car will see heavy street duty, but if I don't get a 10sec pass out of it, I'll be pissed! What cams are you 409 solid roller guys running?

Ryan K.

Now that is what I am talking about.. I would check with Allan @ Futral Motorsports about selecting a cam for this setup. He has much experience with solid rollers... Good Luck..

essentially the exact same motor I was/am looking at.

I just couldnt justify the solid roller expense. MTI wants about twice what Thunder Racing wants for a solid roller setup, since MTI likes the Jesel lifters. Its just not worth it for me. Run a 244/244 on a 110 ls hydraulic, and I'd be good to go. My car is almost toally for (road) track use only though.

Futral, ARE, and Thunder seem to do the most solid roller stuff. I'd speak to whomever you plan on having do the work about specifics.

FWIW, the cam in my 382 is 254/260 .660/.667. Can't remember the lsa... You would probably want a little more in a 414" motor unless you want to keep it on the "tame" side for street driving.

Hey, that's about the same set up I'm doing, as well. But I haven't planned on a solid roller. I might have to study up on that. How reliable are solid rollers?

George,
Was it ARE that setup your solid roller? What is your idle rpm? Is it pretty choppy?

Thanks!

George (ANYBODY),
Will ARE allow you to give the "full" spec sheet?

Like all of the valve timing degrees? I really want to plug this into a couple of calculators I am toing with.

Really, I would love to know what you guys are running.

Thanks!

I would love to be able to give you the full specs of the cam from the cam card. In fact, I'd love to see them myself!

I never could get them to send me a build sheet, so essentially I'm clueless as to what's in my motor. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Embarrassed]" src="gr_emb.gif" />
