MTI Stage2 LS6 heads and X1 cam Dyno #'s **link to graph is now up**
Well I finally got my hog down to get it dynoed. the number I got werent exactly what I was expecting.
RWHP:418.1
RWTQ:397.7
(SAE Corrected)
After all of this talk of 430+ at the tires I was REALLY let down. But when the "Actual RWHP" came up all 3 pulls were over 432RWHP. I made a quick call to MTI and found that they use actual RWHP and not SAE corrected numbers. Everyone at the dyno shop was about floored when they saw the numbers. One guy that worked there walked up to the computer after we had been done for a few minutes, looked at it, walked away, stopped went back and said "HOLY FU&%, is this blown or on the bottle?" When I told him no he about crapped himself. The Torque is what REALLY floored people, it carried well over 350lb ft through the whole pull if not more (cant remember, dont have the graph on me right now). We picked up 2 more RWHP with a MAF translator leaning out the big end a bit. But other than that MTI hit the nail on the head as far as tuning.
I think I am loosing a bit of hp to the flowmaster catback thats on the car as well as a bad clutch. Right about where ther torque peaks it dips a bit. Either from spinning the tires on the dyno (not likely) or the clutch slipping. I also probably lost a couple more horses to the 315's on the heavy 17x11 Fikses.
But over all I am fairly happy with what I got. I think I liked the looks on everyones faces when the saw a camaro put numbers down that were in Viper territory.

If you're making 418 rwhp through a Flowmaster catback, then you should be very happy with your results. You are just a cutout away from 430 rwhp. Flowmaster mufflers suck, you are easily losing 10-15 rwhp through the muffler..

First off, congrats on your dyno numbers.
I don't know that using the actual numbers is such a good idea. Here is my reason for stating that.
My bone stock 2002 Z06 dyno'd 358/351 corrected @ MTI with 1100 miles on it. On that dyno pull, it dyno'd 374 actual.
So corrected, my car made arounf 405 at the crank like it is supposed to. But with the good air here in Houston it made more like 430-435 actual.
Now, if I had been in Denver, it would have been somewhere around 250-260 actual. Which one is correct?
I mean, when we all see folks posting their HP numbers, which ones are they using. Actual or corrected?
The Cartek guys are claiming 450 with their StageIIx package. Is this corrected or actual?
I guess just like flow numbers. People's dynos can be optimistic or pessimistic. And of course, there is no way we are going to get everyone's packages together for a shootout.
Anyway, thanks for the info on the Xcam and the stage II heads.
One other question. How does it idle?

MTI posts their SAE dyno numbers, you can read that on the axis of the dyno charts I've posted. You must have gotten confused info from the person you spoke with, only SAE numbers are used when comparing output.
418 rwhp thru a Flowmaster is pretty good, and yes your large tires/rims are probably robbing 5 rwhp easily. You also have to realize that some guys with all those big dyno numbers are just dyno ****** and have their cars setup to produce good dyno numbers (light driveshafts, aluminum flywheels, smaller 16" rims or draglites, etc...)
What kind of shop did you dyno at? They have never seen any 400+ rwhp LS1s before? lol

NAT, If you had a cutout on that thing I think you would see the horsepower you are wanting--even on the fiske's and through that 9 inch.
The flowmaster catback is a bad monkey! <img border="0" alt="[guns]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_guns.gif" />

That flowmaster is kicking your ***! I always hound people with a flowmaster to get a cutout! You still have another 10-15rwhp in it with a cutout.

The 445 RWHP that I pulled down with the X1 and Stage II LS6 heads was SAE corrected and through a stock driveshaft, 10 bolt and 17 x 11 Nitto Drag radials spinning Fiske FM5's.
Great #'s NataSS!

http://www.cartek.net/ramos99m6c5.html
in this link cartek says that its a stock ls1 bottom making 450 hp. if you look the dynosheet is from brents car not marks car. brents car at the time had zo6 pistons which are lighter and have a coating. which in return will give higher dyno#. and on there cutout pass they use std correction which is way higher corection factor the sae.and also the heads that are on both cars are zo6 so that will make a big difference also.

go here to see the graph
http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...6.jpg.orig.jpg
You can see where the torque starts to peak the car did one of 2 things 1)spun the tires on the dyno (not likely) or 2)the clutch started slipping. the clutch is still the stock unit with 43K on it so I wouldnt doubt it if it sliped a bit

This MTI setup is running LS6 heads too just like Carteks S2X?
Whats your point?
By the way,Brents car is a Z06...
Ramos has a Coupe....
Bottem line,MTI has a nice package w/there S2LS6/X1,430RW sould be cake threw a cutout..

My 431rwhp was SAE, through an aluminum flywheel <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" /> , but with stock 10.5" wheels, stock heads, oh, and an IRS rear end. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Fikses are some of the lightest wheels out there, even in the 17x11's... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
My car did 429rwhp through SLP dual/dual, stock ds, 12 bolt w/ 430s, and no tuning... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> Just think what it would have done w/ a X1 or F1..

Re: MTI Stage2 LS6 heads and X1 cam Dyno #'s **link to graph is now up**
There is no evidence of clutch slippage from the dyno, if it was there you could really tell. Just one of those excuses that gets thrown around when the numbers dont come out to whats expected...
Also MTI posts SAE corrected numbers, not actual since those really dont have any relevance as far as comparison goes. Your muffler is hurting you big time, a reverse split setup needs good flowing exhaust to supplement the smaller exhaust duration.
