Default Pistons, dome, flat top etc.

What is the difference performance wise. What would one set up be used for instead of using the other. Whats all the details on them.

Dished OTOH will lower the CR a little, and is generally ideal for blower/turbo setups. Flat top I believe is basically your stock piston. There is no performance benefit per se, it depends on the setup your going with.

It all depends on what you are looking for in compression ratio. In a perfect world you would want to use a flat top piston when ever possible. They will have the best flame travel across them. However this is not always possible due to most of us wanting compression ratios above or below what a flat top can do. On most LS1 engines you can get good compression out of them with out having to use a dome piston. The most common pistons for a LS1 are dished and flat top pistons. We haven't had the demand to build many dome pistons for the LS1's. If you would like to go over this further please feel free to give me a call.
