Default Any benefit of the TR 224/224 with stock exhaust?

If I'm keeping everything stock except for the airbox is there any benefit of the TR 224/224/114 over the TR 220/220/114?

Would low-end torque (say around 2000rpm) be better or worse?

How would gas milage be after tuning?

You might gain a few hp up top with the TR 224. I'm guessing The TR 220 would be slightly better down low. And gas milage would not suffer.

My only concern for you, is after spending the money (not to mention the PITA factor) to upgrade the valve train etc. you will not be gaining that much, 20rwhp or so. It seems a lot of money to spend without the benefit of headers, LS6 intake and other bolt-on's.

Was this the only mod you wanted to do?

Scott. WS6 M6.

If you are sticking with stock exhaust, you might consider some extra exhaust duration.

Joe Huneycutt (LS1 Joe) has a 2002 Z-28 with lid, pulley, and TR224/224 112 LSA cam. M-6 3.42 car. Through factory cats and cast iron manifolds he made 383 rwhp on the dynojet. I couldn't believe it 'til I saw it. No headers. Factory cats. Stock 6200 redline. Amazing. Great cam, even with factory exhaust.

I'm at 320rwhp now. I'm not expecting 383rwhp after the cam. Hell, I'd be very happy with anything north of 350rwhp.

Driveability, gas milage, and low noise, and reliability are goals since I take the car on 8000 mile road trips. I probably shouldn't mess with it but it's too hard to resist a little more power.

Well if all that is a concern, just go with all the bolt-ons, instead of a different cam. <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

I'm also trying to stay in X-prepared MCSCC class. Section 7.2 http://www.nsscc.com/pdf/00gcrax.pdf

my 224/224-114 got me around 512/536 to the wheels
though a cut out, but normal driving i have stock muffler. power down low seems to fade away a little bit, but not to bad, course i dropped my CR down to 9:1 also. Note: results not typical (cause i also got a turbo)
