I'm hoping some of you could help a fellow F body owner out. I know I'm missing a few cylinders, but hey, we're all out to make our car faster than it was from the factory <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
Anyway, here's my dilemma. I'm getting a cam soon, that makes its peak power around 6300 RPM. However, I'm sure that the 3800 motor has a 6100 fuel cut for a reason.
I have heard a lot about LS1 owners bumping the redline to 6500 rpm. Is this because the spring assembly will still prevent valve float and coil bind? The cam will have .54" of lift, I'm pretty certain the V6 springs won't hold up for many WOT runs. Magnus (he's posted here before) was the previous owner of this cam.
The LS6 motor in the corvette has a 6500 rpm redline. Are the springs in the heads that much stronger, or does GM know more about tolerances than I do? the GTP's with their forged internals, albeit identical heads to the L36, are still redlining at 6000.
Are the stock Ls1 springs, or the ones from SLP, able to hold up at 6500 rpms? thanks for any help.
