Stock is really gone with the first mod, or when used as a descriptor like "The car was factory stock except for ________". If the "________" list gets to be more than 2 or 3 items, the word stock does not belong in the sentence. Now it is another thing to say "It is legal for SCCA stock class racing" as some minor mods are legal.

You'll get a different answer for this by nearly every person you ask!

Once you put in the K&N or Holley air filter it is no longer stock.

To keep it simple, I merely say "My car is stock, except for the engine, drivetrain, suspension, and interior." There now, stock except for four items. We ALL have stock cars here now . . .

It never ceases to amaze me how much trouble one will go through to do huge mods and hide them. Like an 03 Cobra with a tiny pulley and a sneaky pete but when you ask, its always "basicly stock"

I got into an argument on my car club's mailing list yesterday because I consider my car to be bone stock, even though I have changed the rear tires (to Toyo RA-1s, which are similar to drag radials) My point was that my car cut only a 2.04 60ft on it's best run (13.89 at 98.2, which is awesome for a 95 Formula!) and I could've cut a 2.0 60ft on stock GSCs too. So IMHO, my car is still bone stock.

Good one Vince! Look, this is my personal opinion, you loose stock status right when the airfilter or cat back is changed at the very least, gears are totally out of the question also even if the motor is BONE stock because it is intrusive to the PCM. I never ask select people at the track if there car is stock, (because I know better right before I ask) I always ask what modds are done to it before they flap there gums about how stock there car is . I met this one at the track that claimed his car (as a whole entity) was stock when he was running 12.4X's @ 113 mph with front Hals, 4:10 gears, cut out, sway bar removed, LCA's front and rear, Lid N filter. Not stock in my opinion. "Stock" is not a state of mind, It's a car driven straight from the dealership right to the track with the ink still wet on the Temp tag because thats about how long they stay stock!
Joe.

I don't care what ya'll say. MY car is stock is stock. Just look at it. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.lol. Actually , if you have been to this site more than once, then chances are, your car is not stock. I have to agree with badass 2002.

Id have to say the farthest you can go with saying your car is stock is a replacement air filter, any further its modified.

The way I want to say is.... your car is stock if you have GM PARTS....... so lets say you got with some SDPC PORTED LS6 heads..... IMO they are stock heads and a HOT CAM is a STOCK part.

Thats kinda the way I like to it to be.... but by most dealerships..... if anything is changed it isn't stock.
