Any one change head gaskets with a cam change?
A friend of mine has an 04 GTO that we are going to be doing a cam and all bolt on swap soon. The cam is a 228/232 .588/.595 114+4. I know this will lower his DCR quite a bit. I was thinking of pulling the heads while we were in there and replacing the stock gasket with a .040 Cometic. That should give him a nice bump in compression and tighten up his quench area. I will also allow us to do some clean up on the 50,000 mile engine. Has any one else done this? Do you think it would be worth it?

Most people dont pull the heads when doing just a cam swap.
IMO it isnt worth it unless you are going to swap the heads. A gasket isnt going to make a very noticable difference in compression/quench to justify all the extra work. Plus you will need new head bolts to go along with it which also entails the PITA bolt hole cleaning as well as lots of head and block deck cleaning.

I am trying to convince him to do the heads at the same time. We will see. I was just curious to see if any one had done it. It would only give a .35 bump in compression. I figured since it was a GTO it wouln't be that hard to get at the heads. I know in my Vette it takes about 15min to get the heads off and about an hour to get them all torqued back down. I will hold off until he gets some heads to tackle that part of the engine.
