just put in my ms4
i just installed my ms4 , it starts fine with a little throttle, but when i crack the throttle the revs come way down then it shuts off, will drilling the t.b. help this to make it drivable before i get a tune? ive heard from other people with the same cam that its drives ok with no other mods without a tune, but i mine doesnt seem like it would even be drivable at all

No you can drive to the shop and/or drive it around town if you want, just take it easy on the motor for a couple heat cycles.
Taken from ls1howto.com:
Now...Turn the key being sure to keep an eye on the oil pressure gauge. Make SURE oil pressure comes up within 5 seconds (it'll take a few seconds since the motor has been apart and you may have swapped the oil pump) and if it doesn't, shut the car off. The car should idle really poorly (depending on how big you went with the cam), and rpms will fluctuate a lot. If it keeps trying to die, give it 5% throttle just to keep it idling and slowly back the throttle off until it knows how to stay alive on its own. If all is going well, let the car idle up to full temperature, making sure to constantly watch the radiator and refill as necessary.
Once the engine reaches full temp, reinstall the coolant fill cap and you are ready for your test drive! For the first day, cruise around in the car as long as you like and get the car nice and hot, but don't take the RPMS over 4000 until the springs have a chance to cool overnight. The next day you can take the car to redline, just remember that HIGH rpms on stiff high performance cold valve springs is bad, so from now on make sure your engine is warm before you beat on your car. OEM valve springs are MUCH more forgiving than high performance ones, so treat your motor nicely!

Do not drill the throttle blade as a quick fix because it's a PITA to make the whole smaller again once you get it tuned and want to lower the idle again. You should be able to raise the idle using throttle to get it to start and slowly let off (about 100rpm decrease/30 seconds) if you cant get it to stay alive then you will have to have it towed.
Good luck

when I installed my MS3, I ran untuned for about2 months and it took awhile to get it to idle but once it got warm it was fine, now that it is tuned she runs like a raped ape. You should be fine by just getting it tuned, don't do the TB drilling

I have a MS4 car that I daily drive. I say don't drill the throttle body. just get it tuned and it will drive fine then. my has yet to die on me when letting off the gas. It goes right back down to idle, never dips below and comes back up. just settles in nice and smooth.
BTW mine was also mail order tuned by TSP. So you should have no problems at all if you get it dyno tuned

Don't drill your TB. I had it done on my Cobra after the cams went in and the rpm's flutter, it's slow to come back down to idle, it's just a ******* mess. Let the computer learn the cam for a while and see if it gets any better.

buddy and i just did an ms4 swap...he drove the car for 2 days untuned, bucking, surging bla bla...went to go start it the next morning...wouldnt even start, luckily a friend of ours does tuning, wrote a quick tune up for it and it started right up...get a tune, the car will run like crap without one. Where are you located anyway??
