Default Fly Cutting????

What's involved with it??Do we need to pull the pistons or is it something you can do with them in the car???Is there some kind of jig that you use to get them to line up right??Never did this before, sorry for all the questions.I want to go to a .59*+lift cam and was told it wouldn't work with my heads being milled 30/1000ths.TIA

I've seen one pick of a flycutting tool in a magazine. The flycutting tool replaced the valves on the heads. They looked like valves with ridges on them. You would pop your valves out and install the two cutting devices in the head. Then lay the head on the deck and use a drill the spin the cutters. You would have to do this for every cylinder. You would use feeler gauges to set the depth of the cut.

What is the duration at .050 of your cam? That affects clearence more than the lift of the cam does.

Thunder Racing sells the Isky flycutting tool, ~$150 for the tool plus blade (+/- a few $$).

I don't know how it works, but they sell it. Maybe locate the Isky website and go from there.

You should call Isky cams because they used to rent the fly cutting tool out for a fee, instead of buying it. Just a heads up. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
