Didn't the SAM car reach 7,500 or so with a hydraulic cam??

I would assume your rev limiter should have kicked in before 7400, not mention you dyno unlocked, thus resulting in bogus rpm numbers.

ive heard of some hitting 8200 or so, but it has "special" parts and aint your ordinary stuff..
mine has hit over 7000 i know for sure. but i limit it to 6800 because it wasnt making the power up there.

Thunder dynoed my car the other day and they said the rev limiter never kicked in at even 7600. Said the car was still pullin' up there too.

Re: Highest RPM a hydraulic setup has spun up to!!!
its all in the cam/springs. with stock ford lifters they can hit ~7600, with titainium retainers, etc, 8200rpm.

Proper lifter preload is what allows 7000+ rpms.Ultimately you need adjustable valvetrain to make hydraulics spin to there max rpm before collapsing or pumping up limits rpm.Lightening all parts makes it easier by allowing less valve spring tension.

Re: Highest RPM a hydraulic setup has spun up to!!!
Ultimately you want to rev motor 400 to 600 rpm above its peak hp to utilize the sweetest part of your power curve for drag racing. If you over rev motor worst case scenario you will loose control of valves and lifters will pump up to compensate, than the valves are stuck open and can easily hit pistons as this happens. NOt good!
