Default Need Solid cam with stock heads

I need some advice to buy a solid cam with stock heads for daily drive (streetable) car .

I heard that if you installed a solid cam you will be have to adjust your rocker arms every several time , I wish to install solid cam but without adjusting my rocker arms every time .

So is their something will make me comfertable from that ? I mean is their something I can install it with the solid cam and its rocker arms without needing to adjust the rocker armes every time ??

Thanks in advance

Fahad ..

You do not want to run a solid roller cam on a street car. The stock rocker arms are not adjustable, and won't work with a solid roller. Even if you replace the rocker arms with aftermarket units, you DO have to adjust the valve clearances on a regular basis.

Bad idea....

Yes, if you use Jesel rocker system, and a solid profile that is not too radical, you can count on adjusting valvesevery few oil changes or so.I have A SBC with full race assymetrical grind and although i dont street drive it, it has very hi tension springs, and when i check lash it stays consistent. On a street LS1 cam and setup the only way lash should change is if parts wear or loosen. This should not be a issue IMHO. Valve spring maintenance would be your biggest priority, not constant lash adjustments. I say go for it.

The thing about a solid roller with stock heads is the labor. With a hyd. cam the cam swap will take 4-6 hours and the heads stay on. With the solid cam you might as well pull the motor, because you are definately pulling the heads off. With this you will have to buy all the gaskets, bolts, and labor. In my opinion putting the stock heads would be a grand waste of time and money at this point. You might as well just put on a nice set of ported heads too.

Or you could just do the hyd. cam and pick up 30 rwhp.

Also, FMS has been building solid roller street cars for 2 years, the first of which used stock rockers and modified stock lifters! Matinence is not like it was 20 years ago. Granted you should be aware of you lash, but it's not going to need adjusting on a regular basis. In my experiece the sold rollers are just as streetable as hyd rollers, but have the potential for a little more matinence but not necessarily.

Why would you want a solid lift cam and STOCK heads? This makes absolutely no sense to me.

Why not go with a hydraulic cam and ported heads? You'd have MORE power, it would be quieter, less expensive by a long shot and wouldn't require lash adjustment...EVER!

Im putting a custom LSM solid cam in my daily driven LS1 234/241 .615/.605 112 lsa The valvetrain noise isnt that loud (it sounds cool anyway), it will idle smoother than a big hydraulic, throttle response is significanly quicker, and most importantly it'll make some power. The springs will need changing every once in a while
